Amazon.com Product Description The beat goes on with Toshiba's Gigabeat U-series portable media player. The black device--which offers 2 GB of internal flash memory--is built for audio and photo playback, with support for MP3, WMA, and WAV audio formats and JPEG still formats. All told, the Gigabeat stores up to 20 hours of audio, enough for most road trips or gym workouts. As an alternative, you can also store a host of data files in the memory, in effect turning the Gigabeat into a portable flash drive. Need to empty your camera's memory card so you can take more photos? Not a problem. Navigation is a breeze thanks to the "plus" touch interface. With one or two clicks, you can select a track, adjust the volume, or show off your favorite photos. More significantly, the pictures look crisp and vivid thanks to the 1.1-inch color OLED display, which isn't all that big but provides a nice 96 x 96 pixel resolution. Other details include six equalizer presets, a USB 2.0 interface for high-speed data transfers, an FM tuner with 10 station presets, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. The Gigabeat is outfitted with a built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery that provides up to 20 hours of listening per charge. And at 1.4 by 3 by 0.4 inches (W x H x D) and 1.5 ounces, the device fits easily in a pocket or purse. The Gigabeat also carries a one-year warranty on parts and labor. Toshiba Gigabeat March 11, 2009 Jesse Hayes This is a great product, I bought it mainly for recoding our sermons at church and it does a great job! The only problem I have ran into is it automatically breaks up the recording when there is quiet times, so make sure whoever your recording gets turned up on the record out, or you can get an audio joiner and just join the files. Otherwise it would get 5 stars
Excellent Sound December 4, 2008 E. Berry (Omaha, NE) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have had this for over a year and I am very pleased with the excellent sound and ease of use. I prefer to use windows drag and drop over windows media for transferring music files but either will work. Battery last a long time between charging which is done simply by connecting to usb port of pc. Only real drawback I have found is that I have not been able to get it to play continuously through all music directories but only one directory at a time. Not a deal killer at all.
Toshiba Gigabeat U-Series 2 GB Portable Media Player (Black) September 13, 2008 C. S. Wood I love this player! Extremely easy to use. A child could add music to it. No need to constantly replace batteries.
I love it! September 13, 2008 VeeDubya (Oregon) This is a great mp3 player and worth much more than its current price. Its wonderfully small yet still holds 2GB of music (roughly 500 songs) and it has a stylish design (I have the black one). Most importantly it has two awesome features that other mp3 players dont have: 1) FM radio - It gets good reception for all of my local stations and you can record songs as well. 2) Line-out recording - you can record anything by plugging this gigabeat into any line-out plug (ie. computer) or headphone jack on any other audio device. The sound quality comes out just as good as whatever you are recording from.
The only negative I can say about it is that when you are searching for music in the library you can only search by "artist" or "album". If you click on "artist" and then choose "Aerosmith" (for example) it will then display all the Aerosmith albums available. I think its a little redundant to have 2 "album" search methods. I would have liked to have been able to search by either "artist" or "genre" since I already have the option to search albums via "artist". But overall thats a trivial detail and I really LOVE my gigabeat. My iPod friends are all jealous!
It's OK January 30, 2008 rwl (MA, USA,) Nice quality good sound. I only gave it three stars because of the ear phones are junk. If it had better ear phones I'd give it five stars.
