What a waste July 3, 2010 Pamela J. Draper (Victoria, TX United States) This purchase was a TOTAL waste!! The Rhapsody interface is the most confusing waste of time and MONEY! It never communicates with my laptop to update my subscription, so it winds up telling me my subscription has ended (it hasn't - I stupidly pay $17/month for the privilege) and the MP3 player won't play the songs I've downloaded to it. I'm only keeping it for its Radio ability - & bought another MUCH BETTER MP3 player. Don't WASTE your $!!!
works for me June 29, 2010 Edward Young (LAWRENCEBURG, IN, US) This is all new technology for me. Not being all that "techy", and wanting to try a product that would fill some needs, I gave this a shot. The price was acceptable (less than a tank of gas). It has proved to be a worthwhile investment and very useful and usable.
updated: HEADPHONE VERY HARD TO PUSH IN June 22, 2010 Carl Huber 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I received the SanDisk Sansa no problem; it was my first mp3 player but I am a competent computer user and familiar with peripherals. I immediately noticed two problems:
1) The heaphone jack did not produce sound when inserted. It only played when halfway-inserted - very wobbly. Obvious hardware fault.
2) The one mp3 I loaded on to it SKIPPED when it played. I have no idea why. It wasn't large, but it was independent of the poor headphone connection.
I have returned it for a refund and will purchase another, trying to give this thing a chance.
If there's anything wrong with it, though, expect a scathing update.
UPDATE:
OKAY, here's the deal. You have to push it in WAY harder than you would reasonably be expected to push. Don't worry. It does work. It's just very hard to push it in (it clicks!) initially.
I'm still leaving this three stars because the first one I got skipped, and because it still seems like poor product design to have the jack that hard.
NOTE: to everyone complaining about that music service, you really don't have to install it. Just use the drive like a flash drive. Throw your music into one of the folders and it will automatically read.
A great alternative for those who can't afford an Ipod June 15, 2010 Steven Wong (New Jersey) ...That is what they should rename the Sansa: "A great alternative for those who can't afford an Ipod," because that is what it really is.
It's so easy to upload music onto the device. Simply plug it into a USB outlet and drag music into it.
The device is pretty small so it may get easily lost, it's a little bigger than the size of a quarter. Some interesting features are a sleep mode and it even records audio.
The only complaint that I have is the headphones. They are simply not comfortable, and will fall out instantly if you plan on working out or running listening to your sansa.
PROS:
+ decent battery life (several hours)
+ very easy to upload music
+ simple
+ small, uncombersome
+ sleep mode, fm radio, audio record
CONS:
- horrible headphones
- because of its size, it can be easy to lose or crushed
amazing small product June 5, 2010 Robert M. Blumen (San Francisco, CA USA) This is an amazing small product.
Best features for me are
* it works with MSC mode (no need for Windows Media Player)
* it remembers where you were in the middle of any number of tracks (very useful for books/podcasts)
* it has an intelligent fast forward/fast reverse feature (also very convenient for books/podcasts)
* very small
* very light
* decent navigation
* long battery life.
