Nice product June 21, 2010 Charley from Mass (Massachusetts) I purchased this player a couple weeks ago. For the money spent it works very well and sounds good. I have spent more money for a product of less quality. Overall a very good buy.
Acceptable one side play cassette voice recorder April 2, 2010 R. T. Tran (Honolulu, Hawaii) I like this Sony product. No any problem for me at all. I bought it for my dad. Actually I supposed to purchase the one which has auto reverse. My dad really like it. It's very hard to find. I spent a lot of time to look for it. Finally I couldn't find it. So, I just decided to get this one.
A very useful product March 12, 2010 G. Roger Gathers (Pleasanton,CA) I found this a very useful tool. It is easy to use, has good sensitivity, has an internal speaker that has plenty of volume, and is small enough to easily fit in a jacket pocket. The pause button that allows momentarily stopping playback is also useful. Someone in a previous review said it was difficult to load cassettes. I conclude that they just didn't know how to do it. You just drop the cassette into the door with the proper orientation and close the door. One thing I would prefer is to have the view window in the door show the takeup reel of the cassette. At the beginning that reel moves at a faster rate and it is thus easier to confirm that the tape transport is running. Speech is recorded with good consonants making it easier to understand (My hearing is severely impaired). I can't make any judgement as to the quality of music because I have to use fully programable digital hearing aids that alter the spectrum. As a result, what I hear is not what others would hear.
No Quality February 20, 2010 seattle shopper 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I record readings for a friend. This unit is such poor quality. The machine itself makes so much noise that when you try to play it back, you hear your voice only as a secondary sound. The main sound is just static. It is also packaged in a hard clam-shell package, which is not returnable after opening. So once you "try" it out, it's yours no matter what. The recorder is made in China, the cassette tape is made in Mexico, and the adapter is made in Thailand. Just cheap products that don't work. What a waste!
last of a dying product November 30, 2009 J. Beyda 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
It is remarkably difficult to find a cassette recorder as all recorders are going digital, and with good reason, better sound quality, longer battery life, far longer recording time, computer interface, etc. But when my 12 year old needed a cheap durable recorder he could hold in his hand and take to school, this was the best choice. does what it does very well, keys and buttons fall where you expect them, sound quality for a cassette is better than most. Get one before they are all gone.
