Amazon.com Product Description
Amazon.com Product Description With the release of the Stiletto 2, Sirius ushers in the next personal music player revolution. With a slim and sleek profile smaller than a video iPod, the ultra-portable Sirius Stiletto 2 satellite radio receiver features a built-in antenna that allows reception of the Sirius signal without the need for an external car or home docking station. This handheld receiver offers users up to 100 hours of internal storage of live satellite program and music feeds. It also can handle MP3 and WMA files, enabling you to mix Sirius content with your own personal music collection. When coupled with an optional vehicle or home docking kit, you can broadcast both Sirius radio and digital audio files over any FM stereo via the built-in transmitter (adapter required).

The sleek and stylish Stiletto 2 can play both Sirius broadcasts and MP3s. View larger.

With its compact design, the Stiletto 2 lets you experience Sirius internet radio on the go.
The compact Stiletto 2 MP3 player is a 4.3-ounce portable radio that is capable of receiving live Sirius broadcasts via both satellite and Wi-Fi signals. Internal flash memory is used to store Sirius content as well as MP3/WMA files for non-live playback. Listeners can easily bookmark songs and tag favorite songs for later purchase using any Windows-based online music service. Additionally, the Stiletto 2 supports removable microSD flash memory cards to enable users to conveniently expand usable memory space. MP3 and WMA files also can be stored on the Stiletto 2 and managed with the included My Sirius Studio software. The Stiletto 2 is compatible with most music download and subscription services.

The enhanced Wi-Fi capability of the Stiletto 2 permits access to standard Sirius Internet Radio (SIR) or, for an additional subscription charge, SIR’s premium audio quality offering. SIR gives subscribers access to more than 80 channels of Sirius Satellite Radio content on the Internet, including Howard Stern's two channels, Martha Stewart Living Radio, Sirius OutQ, and commercial-free music programming. Sirius also selected Altec Lansing to develop the new antenna headphones for the Stiletto 2. Featuring large 30-mm drivers for full-spectrum acoustics and an adjustable headband for increased user comfort, the new Altec Lansing antenna headphones can deliver hours of listening enjoyment in absolute comfort and crystal clear audio clarity.

Other features of the Stiletto 2 include a brilliant 2.2-inch color display, a handy media dial, and a six-way navigation control that provides easy one-handed access to all features and content. Thrown in for added convenience are Sirius Replay, which allows users to pause, rewind, and replay up to 60 minutes of live radio programming; Game Alert, which allows listeners to track favorite sports team and drive broadcasts and alerts when scores change; and Game Zone, which provides a listing of the user's favorite teams in one virtual category. Parents also have control over usable channels with the parental channel lockout feature. Measuring 1.9 x 4.3 x 0.6 inches, the Stiletto 2 weighs in at a scant 4.3 ounces.

1 out of 5 stars Terrible reception   July 22, 2010
Many Interests (The South)
I would not recommend this product at all. The satellite reception is terrible, even outside. It is completely non-existent indoors.

I very much wanted to like this product. I love my Sirius radio in my vehicle, and never have reception issues with it. Unfortunately, this Stiletto 2 is a very poor product.

2 out of 5 stars It's great when it works   April 29, 2010

I've had my Stiletto since Christmas. The thing is really great when it is working but... It requires frequent rebooting (removing the battery and restarting) due to several, I'm guessing, software glitches. You can't leave it in the car kit cradle to record your favorite show because they have it designed to not give it antenna signal while the power is off on the cradle. If it is the slightess bit warm in the car it shuts itself off when running on battery when you are trying to record something. Now the thing won't even power up in or out of the cradle. I'm ready to go back to my old reliable X-act. Of course there's the $18 to switch to a different radio.

4 out of 5 stars Pleasant Surprise; good radio; decent MP3 player   April 20, 2010
Shelling out $40 again...
I should point out that I got my Stiletto 2 directly from Sirius for a $100. I would not pay anything more than $150.

As a Satellite receiver, it actually works well. After reading the original reviews, all I can guess is that Sirius updated the system. I can actually listen to the radio inside near the windows using the provided headphones (as one reviewer noted: they aren't that bad; imagine using a typical 1987 headphone set; bulky but not too bad). The battery life is only about 4 hours listening to live radio. Not too convenient if listening on the go or at the beach. You will want to invest in a car kit but again this will not help in all cases.

Wi-Fi: The Wi-fi connection works great. I have used it at home; at a friend's house; at the airport. The only problem I have ever had is at a hotel as it required that the user click on an approval button first on their website (which is not possible on this device). The battery life is amazing when using Wi-Fi; almost 8 - 10 hours long. Yes the streaming quality is low (about 96 or maybe even less)- but the songs still sound good. I should point out that you can use normal head phones when streaming. This means you can plug in the Stiletto when using Wi-Fi, which then gives you infinite listening time.

MP3 Player: It is a decent MP3 player as long as you keep in mind that the MP3 functionality is not the core component of this device. You can add a micro SD card so the amount of listening time can be very large. Unfortunately (at a loss of 1 star), Sirius still makes you use their not-too-easy-to-use software to transfer your music to the device (Sirius did provide access to a third party service - which of course is no longer is business). You cannot use Windows Media Player to transfer nor can you copy your music files directly to the device. The copying of files using the Sirius Stiletto is slow. You can create playlists; however no playlists can use files saved to your micro SD card. Again at the description says - "with MP3 player" - remember this and you will not be disappointed.

**EDIT*** - Forgot to mention that the life when listening to MP3 / "Hearted" Sirius Songs or radio playbacks is well over 15 hours. Again you can plug the Sirius in while listening to MP3s etc. as you can use normal headphones. (FYI: If you listen to a channel a lot, the Stiletto will record the channel in theh background. You can then listen to the channel if you do not have access to any live feeds)

"Heart" function: If you are listening to live radio (ONLY! Does not work with Wi-Fi OR Radio playbacks (i.e. My xxxxx channel if you used the older radios) or if you rewind / fastforward), you can press the "heart" button and the radio will record the song. You can then listen to the song from Sirius at any given time. If you think about it: if you record 1 song a day - within 3 months this radio has basically paid for itself when compared to paying $.99 per song. Sirius only gives you a limited amount of space (although I think many hours worth of songs). Still compare this function to using an IPOD. Finally Sirius did update the menu area for the Sirius recorded music.

Overall if you can get this radio for $150 or less, I believe you will be happy. Sirius seems to have fixed a lot of the quirks of the older models (we had to take back our S50s numerous times as they kept failing) and this model seems to be more stable. The live radio works well (with a short battery life). If you can Wi-Fi, then you will have almost endless listening time. The MP3 player is not that bad but you are forced to use weak software to transfer songs.

2 out of 5 stars Stops recording shows and deletes the shows you have saved!!!   April 8, 2010
Amazing Grace
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

At first I loved this device and if I would have rated it right when I received it I would have given it 5 stars. I love to listen to the Howard Stern show and at first it was doing a great job recording and keeping the shows, but then for no reason at all it doesn't record them and also deletes the one's I still have saved. I read online about this problem and I have to reset all the settings again...it wouldn't be so bad if I had to do this once in awhile but nope I have to do it almost every month. It's very, very annoying!!!

2 out of 5 stars Sirius...serious?   March 26, 2010
Joseph B. Pape
Okay, I've been a customer with a stiletto (the first one), car kit , and home kit. I pay for the internet upgrade , so I can listen at work. The biggest issue? The friggin Batteries! After 2 1/2 years this is the second battery that has "expanded", which btw is what bombs do, only quickly, and more violently, in as many years! Sirius no longers carries accessories for their older products I guess, and now I must pay upwards of 60 dollars for a new one online....the radio/kit only cost me 180.

Now the other big complaint...the quality of the content. Depending on which station your listening to your quality varies. None of which is that good. I have a high end audio system, and it just sucks the difference between my cd's and sirius. I love listening to crystal clear music, but I'm not too much a snob to turn my nose up at lower bit rates. But sirius is just a little to low quality for my tastes.

I'm now back to buying CD's and ripping them, so I can get the quality, but now I have less diversity whne I listen :(

....and i still have to buy a new battery...again
