Works great! June 26, 2010 Amazon Fan I have been using this for a few months and think radio is going to disappear since the commercials are being played more than the music. The sound is fine when using the cassette adapter and the 30 presets are enough to find music easily when driving down the road. I added a home kit in the basement so I can take this from the car and use it in the house. For the extra $45 for the home kit I can't help but use this in the house instead of a radio. I got the "a la carte" service for about $8-9 a month and picked about 52 channels that I wanted, which is why I got this since you can't get "a la carte" on all receivers. The 30 minute memory sounded neat but I really don't use it much but the memory for storing artists and songs is a great feature. You get a beep a few seconds before a song starts along with a message of the artist or song you stored so you can decide if you want to change channels. For example, you add Pearl Jam to the memory as an artist and everytime Pearl Jam has a song on any of the channels available to you the receiver beeps and you decide if you want to change to that channel. Sometimes you get a lot of beeps if you have a lot of popular artists stored in the memory.
Performs as advertised March 30, 2010 Malintent I bought this radio twice. Once for my girlfriend's car and then again after it was stolen out of her car. It is an inexpensive radio with some good features. Don't leave it in plain sight in an unlocked car. She loves the ability to flag a song or artist so that if it is on any other station, it will beep to let her know what she likes is plying on another channel. What is missing, though, is a 'back' button... to return to a previous station.

Purchased unit(Starmate 5) from Amazon. Attempted to get the A La Carte from Sirius. Sirius stated the model came up as "UNKNOWN" therefore A La Carte programming was not available. I do not know if it is the radio or Sirius computer system. I did purchase the Sirius Everything programming and the unit works great. Therefore I would not recommend this unit for the A La Carte programming.
ST5TK1 Buyer beware ! December 14, 2009 iwish (sierra nevada) The Sirius St5tk1 unit I purchased does not produce an FM signal even though the instruction booklet says it will.Without the FM signal the unit is useless to me.The box says return it to Sirius.Sirius says the problem is in the dock. Sirius sends a new dock still no signal. Back on the phone with Sirius I ask to send it back for a refund and get the run around from Sirius and finally they refuse saying I should return it to Amazon.com who refuses to take it back because I've exceeded the 30 day return limit! Now I'm stuck holding the bill for the Sirius defect.Other folks seem to be having the same problem. Time for a recall Sirius !
