Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Why settle for standard earbuds when you can step up to the rich, full range sound found in Shure E2c Earphones? Their sound isolating sleeves block 2 to 7 times more noise than Noise Canceling headphones with no hiss added and no batteries required, so you'll hear every detail, no matter where you are.

Amazon.com Product Description
Shure's E2c in-ear headphones are tiny, lightweight, and designed to sonically outperform most ear-bud-style headphones. The E2c's unique, relatively affordable design comes from Shure's years of collaborating with professional musicians. With high-energy drivers in distinctive enclosures, the E2c produces high-quality sound with excellent isolation from background noise.

The E2c's speakers are constructed with studio-grade components, producing exceptional audio clarity. Their in-ear design, using supplied flex sleeves, naturally blocks background noise. This permits lower listening volumes in loud environments--critical in safeguarding your hearing during performance or other activities. No batteries or extra equipment are needed for sound isolation.

Because every ear is different, E2c earphones come with 3 pairs (small, medium, large) of flex sleeves and 3 pairs (small, medium, large) ultra-soft flex sleeves to ensure a personalized fit. These disposable foam sleeves gently compress to fit in the ear canal. Once in the ear, the foam expands to form a tight seal. Once tightly sealed, the sleeves hold the earphones firmly in place.

The E2c's cables pass behind the ear--out of sight and out of the way for comfort and discretion. Weighing only 1 ounce, the E2c is lightweight and comfortable enough for any portable listening application. The set comes with a soft, stylish, compact, and zippered carrying case, which allows for an easy, tangle-free way to store your earphones.

What's in the Box
Earphones, 2 triple-flange sleeves, 3 pairs (small, medium, large) of flex sleeves, and 3 pairs (small, medium, large) ultra-soft flex sleeves (kit 90XC1371, with cleaning tool), a soft carry case (80B8232), a user's manual, and warranty information.

4 out of 5 stars as expected~   July 14, 2010
Khai Do Ba (Hanover, NH)
Everything is as expected! High-quality as expected, though sound quality isn't quite as amazing as some reviews make it out to be (but still very good - no real complaints at all!) Numerous buds accommodate different sizes of ear, and I settled on the soft silicon (the default hard bud hurts my ear after brief usage - dunno what I'm doing wrong?) With the soft silicon, noise-isolation is quite good.
A good alternative to my recently-broken Altec Lansing inMotion iM716 Headphones - this E2c doesn't have volume control, but likewise doesn't have an annoying volume control clip!
Over-ear method of putting on these earphones is a bit strange and might take a bit of time getting used to, but once you are, it won't be an issue.
Overall definitely a recommended buy, just keep your expectations reasonable and don't hear too much of the huge hype, and you won't be disappointed~

5 out of 5 stars Best earbuds under 100   July 9, 2010
Omkar Shivhare (California, USA)
I was ready to pay about a hundred bucks for a set of earbuds, i already have beats tour, by dr. dre, which cost me 175 bucks. the shure's are of comparable quality. Theyre the best headphones under 100, PERIOD.

I was thinking of buying the klipsch s4, but i chose the shure ones looking at the manufacturers' reputation. and it paid off

these are ergonomic to a great extent, come with extra sleeves to fit your ear canal, comfortable, the jack is at a right angle, so, if you're a lazy chap like me, sleeping on your bed with the laptop literally on your lap, you need not worry about the jack getting deformed, unlike my beats, and skullcandy.

the audio quality. you can hear the AIR of the recording room in which the song which is playing, had been recording. it gives you a full theatre experience..

bass is very well above average, not the thumping magnitude, but the quality of the thumping, they do not over power the mids, so you can listen to the guitars, vocals, effects very well, with the bass thumping at its max.

hope you find this review helpful.

oh yea, and they're attention seekers, they look hot

2 out of 5 stars Not as good as I expected   July 8, 2010

Yes, these earphones do isolate the sound around you; however, they magnify the sound of your breathing and your heart beating to the point of distraction. Unfortunately, these earphones will join the pile of other also-tried's.

3 out of 5 stars Left earbud stopped working after a year.   June 26, 2010

After a year of normal use when I first bought it in 2007, the left earbud began to cut out and until the point where it just stopped working entirely.

3 out of 5 stars Great Earbuds - I just wish I wasn't on my 3rd pair   May 22, 2010
Stoic Athos (Chicago, IL)

I'm now set to buy, yet another pair of shure earbuds. I've been using shure for around 3 years, both of the other two pairs broke after about 18 months of admittedly very frequent use.

I wear them to and from work on the train (yes they block out the El Train sound), as well as working out, and sometimes during work if I'm doing a repetitive task, or if I don't want to listen to the guy in the neighboring desk slurp his noodle soup at lunch. So they'll get maybe 20 hrs of use per week. Though what probably breaks them in the end is the shoving in and out of pockets all the time. They do provide an earbud case, but since I don't carry a purse, that pretty much exists to sit in my dresser and hold all the extra earpieces that don't fit until I realize that it's wasting valuable sock real-estate and throw it away.

The first set broke because wire casing was too stiff and eventually broke away from fatigue over the ears (they use softer wire casing now). The second set I just started losing sound in the other ear.

I'm buying another pair because frankly, they're the best sound I've found out there, and I don't know that another brand would have faired much better over time with the way I use them.
