Amazon made a Mistake ! January 2, 2009 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
All reviews of different beyerdynamic headphones are mixed together. Dt990 dt770 etc... What the Hell!
Can amazon have each review under the right headphone?
Well worth even the premium price December 26, 2008 After using these headphones for 2+ years, it's hard to go back to anything with lesser sound quality. The main flaw is that they don't work well for portable audio. Even if you're comfortable wearing massive headspeakers in public, your audio player probably won't pump out the volume you need to drown out traffic or the subway. Also, the open design will let everyone hear a little of what you're listening to.
However, for private home listening, these are the best. They are large in size but relatively lightweight. Sometimes I put them on and keep them on long after the music tracks are over just because the soft earpads are so warm and comfortable. Recently, I've used these primarily to play games with my 360, and were it not for the subtle weight around my ears, I forget that I'm not using a home theater system that I used to have before moving to a smaller apartment.
great headphone December 12, 2008 I bought this amazing headphone less than [...] in Amazon. Just the half price if you buy it in China. Now I have DT880 and HD580 worked for me both in office and home. The sound is great. Unlike HD580, the sound is detailed while not flavored. It is suitable to listen classic music and watch movie. A natural born for monitor sound. By the way, the Al-alloy frame looks good. Good craftmanship brings a good look. I don't like in-ear headphones. You should try Sennheiser, Beyer, Grado, AKG and ATH. This DT880, former flagship of Beyer, has a huge fame. Finally,an amp should be used to perform a better sound.
Beyerdynamic DT 880 - Best headphones ever December 11, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Beyerdynamic DT 880 headphones are awesome. They are sturdy, VERY comfortable and have exceptional sound quality. I was a bit hesitant to lay down the money for these headphones but I had tried a friend's pair of 770's and knew these had to be at least that good. I listen to music and sound almost all day at work through these headphones and the 880's allow the best comfort in ANY headphones I have tried, and I have tried many.
If you value high quality sound reproduction and comfort, look no further. You will enjoy these headphones.
Great Cans November 30, 2008 This is my first set of high quality headphones - I have used a pretty nice pair of Koss headphones since about 1998 - and I'm smitten with them. They do indeed need sometime to warm up, as they're a little bright right out of the box, but the clarity is unmistakable. I am able to hear subtleties and nuances in songs that I couldn't with other headphones (e.g., the beginning of 'Closer' - NIN, quiet licks on the album 'Dark Side of the Moon' - Pink Floyd, and the breathing and sounds of Janos Starker hitting the fingerboard in 'Bach's Cello Suite No1 in G mjr, etc.) I can't take them off. Make sure you have something to drive them with though (check out eb@y). The preamp for my computer speakers (Klipsch) is sufficient.
