Below average January 9, 2009 This was a Christmas present for our 15 year old son. He was very excited to get them and he immediatly tried them and after that we thru out the orginal package. I am a divorced father of two boys and returned them back to their mothers that day.On the second use, the headset broke mid way up from the ear piece. My son called with great disappointment and asked what we could do.
I am concerned now I will NOT be able to get "free replacement"
Yes to Lowriders January 8, 2009 These headphones are great for those who want the world to disappear. From Zeppelin to Chopin, they go loud without drowning out the quality of your music. Adjustable, fun, and comfortable to wear, the cups will turn out for a neighbor to listen and for compact storing. Use lowriders while staying still and for light activity, such as walking-otherwise they will slide around. A great product!
The sound quality has improved January 6, 2009 I have bought skull candy in the past so I was familiar with the brand. My son says this set feels and sounds better..maybe just a Christmas high..who knows!
A decent buy for the price and look. December 30, 2008 The main flaw I find with the Skullcandy lowriders is the awkward size. They're a lot smaller than the standard headphone and takes a bit of adjustment on the ears to get the proper sound. At first I assumed I was getting horrendous sound as many people mentioned but specifically due to the various piercings I have on my ears, the lowriders were levitated awkwardly against my head which is something I never had an issue with brands like Sony or Sennheiser. Adjusting them to fit properly makes a huge difference and provides a much clearly sound and heavier base but if you don't adjust these properly against your head it won't sound half as nice as it has the potential to.
They sound isn't phenomenal but they're not awful either if you're willing to work with them. These are not your standard boring black or silver headphones and have a few kinks in the design but if you're considering these, you're going for sound and design. These are worth it if both aspects are important to your purchase. They're small enough to travel and decent enough to use at home (these do leak sound if you like it loud however). They stay snug on the head as well. I would warn if you have a lot of piercings on your ears these aren't the most comfortable after a few hours but are still by far one of the better "fashionable" headphones out there I've tried that matches my fire engine red hair. Worth the price just for that.
Skull Candy is not for me December 1, 2008 I've had the lowriders for about six months now since the skull candy craze hit the shelves at Target. I used to buy the earbuds but earbuds didn't work. Tried using these and sure, they're comfortable for the first week, but then they just start hurting, especially if you have ear piercings. They're uncomfortable to wear for more than two hours and the sound isn't that great of a quality. The cord doesn't last. If you buy these, you will be replacing them soon. It's worth it to get "real" headphones for a slightly higher price that last longer and sound better. I would not suggest buying these if you need them for more than two hours a day or buying them at all.
