JVC HANC250 High Grade Noise Cancelling Headphones January 9, 2009 I was very pleased with this purchase. The product provides exceptional performance at an exceptional value. I was amazed at how well the headphones eliminate surrounding sound when switched on. There is a detachable cord so that the headphones can be used with music or just to elimate sound. They come in a very nice case along with all the accessories for any type of audio jack. I can't wait to try them out on my next flight.
Pretty good January 7, 2009 I use these in the gym primarily. They don't block out all the noise but they block enough that I can read while I am working out. I used them on one plane trip and they were great. My wife said the plane was one of the loudest she had ever flown and it was almost silent for me. They do much better an low sounds than high ones. And I think they block out enough sound to be useful without making it dangerous to have them on.
Great Product/Value January 6, 2009 I chose these headphones after reading multiple reviews on them on different web sites. I needed noise cancelling headphones in order to concentrate at times here at work. My cubicle neighbor has the equivalent Bose model. We tested them out and neither of us could tell the difference in sound quality. Add in comfort - I tend to wear them for hours at a time and I don't incur any discomfort. They are light weight adding to the comfort factor. Throw in the fact that they're 1/3 the price of the Bose and you have a winning combination. I couldn't be happier.
Make sure you turn the noise cancelling off when done, as it will burn through the AAA battery - I went through the included battery rather quickly because I left it on at times. I invested in a rechargeable battery package I'm keeping at my desk so I'll always have a power source available for the NC feature. NC works well and I don't want to be without it. One additional feature that is a big plus over the Bose, is that these headphone DO WORK if the battery is dead - this is NOT the case with the Bose. While you won't have NC in that situation, you will still be able to make use of them in non-NC mode.
If these aren't as good as the QC-3 they're awful darn close. January 2, 2009 I have wanted a set of Bose QC-2 headphones since I used them a few years ago, but could never get myself to spend the $400. I've been using the JVC HANC80 phones, which are effective (much better than no noise cancellation) and very attractively priced ($35, if I'm not mistaken).
However, after spending a few days with my HANC250's I can say the noise cancellation is much better than the HANC-80, only a little more expensive, and a far cry from the price for the QC-2/3.
I also like the carrying case for the HANC250, which resembles the Bose models, as opposed to the drawstring bag I had with the HANC-80.
If you're looking for a nice set of noise-cancelling headphones for under $100, I highly recommend the HANC-250.
Perfection, you are JVC Headphones... December 25, 2008 I looked thoroughly through the reviews and features of all sorts of noise-canceling headphones on amazon.com and decided these were the best for me. They absolutely are. I got them for Xmas and tried them out already. I am so pleased. I was so afraid that since I hadn't tried them out at a store that I'd end up paying for an overpriced piece of junk that would break in five seconds. Not the case. These headphones have a very simple and elegant design. They aren't huge and clunky. The noise canceling doesn't block out all background noise- I guess I was expecting it would, and so I'm giving them four stars, but I also have extremely sensitive hearing to begin with. There is a marked difference between listening to music with the noise canceling on vs. off. The sound quality is amazing, and with the noise canceling, I'm literally hearing harmonies i didn't even know were present in recordings I have played. They have added a whole new dimension to the mp3s I have paid for, and now I am able to fully get my money's worth out of them, where I was missing the fullness of the recordings before. I tried watching law and order and listening to music with the headphones on, and I could bearly hear the tv, and with the music off but noise canceling on, the volume seemed much lower. very good bass. Nice hard carrying case. Slight buzz in one earcup with noise canceling on, but not bothersome. Comfy, manageble, perfect. I love them! Comes with cord, large adapter, and adapter for airplane headphones (no more buying those cheep ones for $1 every flight!). You'll be very pleased with these, and the price is right.
