Quality and Comfort December 4, 2008 I have been stalking new headphones for some time now. I wanted the Quiet Comfort quality without the price. In reviewing dozens of alternatives and reading scores of reviews I settled on the Audio-Technica. I am not disappointed.
A concern that I had in purchasing the headphones was the prospect of sound leakage. This has not been a problem, and in fact, I am impressed with how it is contained.
Further, I was concerned that since my ears are bigger than average that they would not cover my ears. However, this is not the case. They fit comfortably on my ears. And they are quite comfortable for long periods of time as well.
The sound is great, as advertised.
As someone who has headphones on for several hours a day and occasionally has to travel long distances, I am quite satisfied and thankful that I settled on this model.
They are a good set of headphones December 3, 2008 I liked my purchase. Bought these for the noisy SF BART train rides and flight cabin noise annoyances. They feel more sturdy than a pair of Bose for sure. Also the fact that it runs on a AAA battery is one less thing to worry about in taking care of it. The price point is certainly comparably attractive.
Noise canceling works in either train or cabin environment. I am no professional audiophile, but certainly live up to the advertised 85%+ noise canceling level. You gotta love the fact that you can't hear what the flight attendants are asking you when they walk by for drinks and those cabin noise. They are also pretty comfortable to wear, even for long periods of time.
Other users have been bombarding its noise leaking issue, and I have to say one thing: yes, there is definitely noise leakage, but only it is noticeable for others when you are in a pretty quiet surrounding AND your music player (my iPhone 3G) has its volume turned higher than 2/3 of the way (this is pretty darn loud when you're in noise-canceling-ville). However, if you are like me who 1) does not crank music in a pair of noise-canceling headphones most of the time, and 2) only put them on in noisy environments, then noise leakage is not an issue. By noisy, I consider even walking in the streets in downtown SF is noisy. Also, I say "noticeable", not "music recognizably noticeable", so the leakage is not all that bad when you use them the right way. In my opinion, unless your usages are limited to inside elevators without elevator music, or an audiophile's recording studio, or super quiet office conference rooms, it's not all the bad.
Great headphones! Great price! December 2, 2008 I have had these for almost a year and we really love them. I got them for my daughter who needs quiet to read. My husband uses them when he works at home. I use them when I cook dinner to listen to my music or a podcast. They really allow me to escape from kids bickering and music practice. These are so much more affordable than Bose and offer comparable quality. I have recommended them to many friends.
If only it cancelled jerks! December 1, 2008 GREAT!
I work in a building (military delpoyed overseas) with some sister service people and the stomp, slam doors and talk about things I'd rather not hear. From time to time they think I ignore them because I can't hear them talking!
When on airplanes, these phones cancel the air, engine, and screaming baby noise to a tolerable level, and with music, these make traveling more peaceful.
With noise cancellation engaged music levels don't have to be so high.
Nuff said.
Good Headphones, Great Value November 28, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Headphones work great on an airplane. Remarkable improvement in enjoyment flying. Good sound quality albeit a bit flat with mediocre bass.
There are probably better headphones on the market, but for this price they cannot be touched.
Unless you have more money than sense, buy these instead of Sennheisers. Don't buy BOSE unless you are a sucker.
