Product Description
With Bose technology, you dont have to compromise the quality of your audio just because youre listening through a pair of headphones. Our acoustic equalization techniques deliver the rich nuances of your music that conventional headphones often lose. You hear the intricate notes of an acoustic guitar, the full range of vocals and even the beat of a drum with greater clarity and impact. Bose around-ear headphones faithfully reproduces deep, full low notes without requiring the artificial bass boost function found on many portable players.Advanced ergonomics and lightweight design define the stylish Bose around-ear headphones. Soft ear cushions gently fit around your ear for hours of comfortable listening. A thin, adjustable headband has several head size settings and the earcups swivel for a better fit. An additional benefit of Bose around-ear headphone technology is that it helps reduce headphone size without sacrificing performance, resulting in a total weight of only five ounces.Bose around-ear headphones put it all together: high-performance sound, comfortable fit and stylish design for an eye-catching, ear-pleasing audio experience.

2 out of 5 stars They were fun while they lasted   December 23, 2008

I absolutely adore headphones and can always find a special place in my heart to appreciate fine headphones. So it was a shame that my old school panasonic headphones were blown out due to my overuse and insane volumes that probably could have affected my hearing. Well, long story short, I had to find new headphones and I ended up being attracted to these fine Bose headphones but the price tag made me want to swallow a huge rock. However, I bought these headphones anyway. For the first few months, I enjoyed them. I couldn't hear anything around me, the sound was great that I pretty much got lost into the music I was blasting, they were very comfortable (but lots of cracking around the black elastic) and these headphones had such a sleek design. It didn't last long since after a few months (technically 4), they blown out. Now, I was severely pissed off since I paid $150 for these headphones and expected better. I was hoping for them to last longer than my $40 panasonic headphones which lasted a year or two before they met their maker. I tried to return them to the company since it is still under warranty but I lost my receipt which resulted in more anger from me (but this anger was resulted at myself). For the price, the headphones are not even worth the time. They last for such a short period of time that I don't think you can fully enjoy them. There (mentioned above) was also a problem with cracking around the earphones, resulting in "black crust" just falling off--that was only after a few weeks of use. Carrying this thing was also a problem, sure it's light weight and very easy to carry around but you have to be careful and watch what you do or these headphones can break on you. The case that it comes in is pretty nice but doesn't protect it whatsoever. (I decided to check out my headphones one day and just like that they broke and fell apart). So if you are a rough person or traveler, I would shy away from these headphones. I can predict that these headphones are not for heavy everyday use, just when you wanna watch a movie on your computer or in some case (macbook/laptop). Definitely not for ipods or any other mp3 device. These headphones were nice while they lasted but fun was just over too soon.

4 out of 5 stars crisp sound   December 16, 2008
I got these as a birthday present 2 years ago, and I absolutely adore them. I'm not a total audiophile, but I love music and listen to my ipod quite a bit. I also had some audio and music studio courses in college, so I know what it means to have good sound.

I've previously had sony around the ear headphones that I liked a lot, and everything I got after that just did not live up to the sound and broke too easily, usually with the sound all of a sudden not working in one ear. For that reason I was afraid to buy expensive headphones such as these, but now that I have them, I would never give them up.

I listen to every type of music, from rock to hip-hop, classical to folk. The only thing I don't like is country. I also watch tv shows and movies on my ipod. Everything sounds amazing and full with these headphones. Also I use the sound choices in the settings of my ipod to enhance a particular type of music(there are choices like rock, pop, hiphop etc). The subtle differences are much more noticeable with the bose headphones then with any other set I've ever had.

The headphones come with a great little pouch to make them easily portable and protect the wires from anything sharp(which is another way I have broken headphones, by accidentally severing a cord). They're extreme comfortable too. I have small ears I think, and I cannot wear anything that goes in the ear such as earbuds, they just fall out or if I can jam them in enough to stay, they hurt. So these are the perfect solution for me.

I've also done some testing to see how loud I can have them without bothering others and I can get it pretty far up. I don't blast it because I don't want to damage my ears, but I do want to enjoy the fullness of the sound. I can get them at a very nice level while sitting next to someone on a plane and not bother them.

All in all, if I was given the choice of purchasing them after having used them for 2 years, I definitely would fork over the cash and not wait for them as a gift, as I did last time. Happy listening! =)

5 out of 5 stars I'm a headphone lover and these are my favorites   December 5, 2008

Wear them backwards! For some reason these sound much better flipped so the left ear piece is on the right ear and vice-verse. Something about the way the drivers are aimed. When I wear them the "right" way there's too much of a peak in the upper-midrange that I don't care for. Personal preference of course.

I'm an audio engineer and I've always listened to headphones a great deal both casually and professionally, and I love these. I also own Sennheiser HD-580, Etymotics, Shure e5, Sony MDR-V6, and others, and these are the most comfortable and sound the most pleasing. Rich punchy bass and lively high-end. Higher frequencies are not as smooth and light as the Sennheisers, but still very present.

For casual listening I prefer rich and musical sound over flat and "realistic" sound, so these may not be the choice for people looking for reference monitors or headphones to mix an album with. They're efficient enough to use with an iPod but sound better with my EarMax tube headphone amp.

People complain they're delicate and they do seem like it. But I've had them for about 3 years and had no issues, though I haven't carried them around or abused them much. I just bought my second pair so I can have them at work and at my home studio.

1 out of 5 stars dont waste your money...   December 1, 2008

I just bought a Bose around-ear headphones and I must say I am very disappointed. The sound quality is good, still I must say I expected a lot more from Bose.
Sound leakage is however, a major major issue and you simply cannot enjoy ur music at higher decibles w/o disturbing others, simply defeats the purpose of buying a headphone. I cannot use it in office as simple as that.
I am not really sure if I got a defective sample...
It hasn't been a day since I got these and I have already starting looking for another headphone (def a less costly one this time)...

3 out of 5 stars Bose headphones   November 21, 2008
I picked these up at the Bose store in the mall. I did not even consider that they would be on Amazon for a much less price than what I paid. Anyway, I wanted a quality set of headphones to listen to my IPOD when I traveled. So, I thought the Bose around the ear joints would work. Well, they are ok. They don't cancel out much noise but, they are good headphones to listen to music on when sitting in the airport. They are not "DJ" headphones nor will they make you feel as if you are in the studio with your favorite artist but, they are good for listening to music. If you are considering purchasing them, I say you should but them just make sure you shop around for the best price you can get. YMMV. NEOSOUL06
