Product Description In tune with the way people enjoy their favorite music today, Klipsch designed the iFi system to make the popular Apple iPod experience sound better than ever. This "plug and play" setup, made exclusively for iPod fans, works with all dockable iPods, including the iPod Mini and iPod photo. Whether it's used in a bedroom or as the primary home audio system, listeners will experience their digital music library in audiophile-quality Klipsch sound. This 2.1 configuration comes with two unobtrusive Klipsch Reference Series RSX-3 satellites, a dedicated subwoofer, docking station and radio frequency remote. Each self-standing or wall-mountable RSX-3 is a two-way, magnetically shielded speaker that employs a 3.5-inch aluminum woofer and a 0.75-inch titanium dome compression driver coupled to an exclusive round MicroTractrix Horn. The 8-inch subwoofer, designed specifically for this system, has a built-in Class D amplifier that distributes 200 watts of peak system power to successfully drive all the channels. It also features a slot port and line level input. A unique tuning approach is used to achieve a sound character typically found in much larger subwoofer boxes. The radio frequency remote can send signals through walls and floors and up to six remotes can be used to control the iFi and a docked iPod from virtually anywhere in the home.
Amazon.com Product Description Designed to maximize the Apple iPod and iPod Mini listening experience, the Klipsch iFi speaker system delivers up to 200 watts of peak system power and the ability to control both the iFi and the iPod remotely through walls and floors. Its 2.1 speaker configuration includes two unobtrusive Klipsch Reference Series RSX-3 two-way satellite speakers designed to fit into almost any type of environment and a dedicated subwoofer. It also features a docking station that not only connects but will also charge your iPod or iPod Mini for uninterrupted listening. The iFi comes in a silver finish that complements Apple hardware and is designed for easy "plug-and-play" setup. Each RSX-3 satellite encompasses a two-way, magnetically shielded bass-reflex speaker in a rear-firing port and employs a 3.5-inch aluminum woofer and a 0.75-inch titanium dome compression driver coupled to an exclusive round 90-degree MicroTractrix horn, which creates the Klipsch dynamic signature sound. The woofer is a long-throw unit driven by powerful ceramic magnetic motor structures. The Cerametallic cone is lightweight with excellent rigidity, which dramatically reduces any resonance. Each RSX-3 has an integrated pedestal stand with a ball joint that allows it to be adjusted in almost any direction by using the provided Allen wrench. A keyhole is featured on the underside of the stand base for no-hassle wall mounting. The speaker grille magnetically snaps into place over the front baffle, while a sturdy five-way binding post ensures connection to the speaker cable. The subwoofer, designed specifically for the iFi system, has a built-in Class D amplifier that distributes 200 watts of peak system power to successfully drive all the channels. It also features a slot port and line level input. It employs unique tuning approach to achieve a sound character typically found in much larger subwoofers. The RF remote control can be used to control the iFi and the docked iPod from virtually anywhere in the home -- it can send signals through walls and floors, and can work with up to six remotes. What's in the Box 2 RSX-3 satellite speakers, powered subwoofer, iPod/iPod Mini docking-charging station, RF remote control, owner's manual.

Fantastic August 2, 2008 Had this since my first generation Nano and am now using it with a classic and touch. More than enough volume, great sound, great base and turned my iPod into a home stereo. With the Touch and Pandora or AOL radio, it even has streaming radio capabilities. I LOVE IT! Klipsch has twice sent me inserts for the iPods with no charge (great customer service), although they apparently do not have one for the Touch. I have been using the insert for the 30 gig and there is a little wobble, but not bad. The remote is very basic; only volume and skip controls and a pause/off button, but even with the Touch you have to be so close to see what you are navigating that it's just easier to use the iPod. The remote is RF, so it works out of line of sight. With just the dock and sats exposed, it is even discrete (the sub is behind the entertainment center). I would call this one of the better purchases I have ever made, well worth the money.
Fantastic sound May 19, 2008 These speakers are far superior than any others that I have ever had. I consider myself an audiophile and these babies rock. Fantastic, crisp, clear, high definition sound!
Serious Dock/Vol Problems, Lousy Remote March 16, 2008 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
I was very happy with the unit (almost Hi-Fi sound) for several months, despite the ridiculous remote and the fiddly vol/subwoofer/power controls on the docking unit. Then the docking unit started to malfunction. When you spin the vol control and/or push the sub woofer button, the sound either cuts out or alternates from speaker to speaker or blasts so loud that it threatens to either deafen you or blow the speakers. Internet seraches indicate that this is a widespread problem requiring new docking units.
Ipod + Ifi= perfect combination February 2, 2008 If you own an apple ipod or ipod shuffle and want the most out of your ipod, Get these speakers. Blows away all of the competition. The sound quality is amazing. Feels like your in the first row of a concert. Well worth the price. I even use the auxiliary port for my hdtv when i'm not using the ipod. Sounds excellent with the Tv as well. Pick it up today, no regrets here.
excellent, flawless sound. iFi will make your iPod rock! January 29, 2008 Really flawless sound at any volume! Classical music sounds amazing... crisp, clear, ground shaking! It's like being in a concert hall. Rock music really rocks, the subwoofer is beautiful (for both auditory and visual), with adjustable level which is nice.
iFi provides many thoughtful features such as line in on the woofer and also on the docking station (the former will allow computer sounds to play together with your music, the latter will over-ride the iPod and can be used for CD players etc).
My 160 GB iPod fits perfectly in the docking station (I didn't need to use any of the adapters included with the iFi since the 160Gb iPod is wider than most iPods).
The RF remote rocks too, since you don't have to point it at the speakers to work, you don't even have to be in the same room! It is very touch sensitive and responds very quickly, with volume up and down, track forward or back, fastforward/reverse and play/mute. On the dock itself is a lightbar that shows volume and subwoofer volume, and you can adjust subwoofer level there too. I haven't had a problem yet with figuring out which button on the remote control is volume etc (as other reviewers have) but I can see where in a dark room it might be an issue. Backlighting of the remote would have been helpful.
With such a small inconspicuous footprint (just two fairly small speakers and docking station, in addition to a pretty small subwoofer) one is very surprised to hear such HUGE sound. It easily surpasses my home theater surround sound system, at least for iPod playback (I admit I have a fairly cheap 75 watt per channel Sony 5.1 home theater system... saving my pennies to upgrade that too someday).
Piano pieces sound really wonderful on the iFi (usually speakers will distort piano playback quite a bit). On iFi the sound quality is absolutely no different (in my humble opinion) than listening to a live piano performance (at least to my amateur ears it sounds the same). I am a pianist so this means a lot to me.
Overall highly recommended product. There are some pretty good deals out on the iFi right now (jan 2008) so I would highly recommend taking advantage of one of those before their stock runs out (iFi is a limited re-edition from Klipsch... see Klipsch.com for more info.. I bought it right from their website. They had the best price especially if you can find a coupon. Check out dealnews.com for possible coupon codes)
Happy hunting!
